How to clean the RV: first step, cleaning!

Glance: the interior

As with all cleaning steps, the first thing to do is a deep and thorough vacuuming of all interior parts of the RV, trying to reach even the most hidden corners. Only after the coarsest dirt has been vacuumed, can you move on to the thorough cleaning of all surfaces, including those of the wall cabinets and different compartments. Be careful, however, to always use products specific to the different surfaces.

A particularly good product for cleaning the RV is Deterjet, the universal cleaner designed to thoroughly clean all washable surfaces. Mission waterproofing fabrics

How to clean the exterior of the RV and eliminate the hated black marks

How to use: in a bucket, dilute Pulicamper 1:10 with water and then wipe down the diluted product with a sponge or top brush. We suggest doing this out of the sun and on cold surfaces so as not to risk drying out the product. Finally, rinse thoroughly with water.

Degreaser: the best ally against the most stubborn dirt

One product that can never be missing on board our motorhome is HP 12, the universal degreaser with extreme ease and safety of use. HP 12 can be used to clean tools and equipment, or on the plastics and interior of the RV. But it is also ideal against all traces of grease in the engine, on chrome, bodywork and rims. HP12 also releases a delicate, fresh lemon-scented aroma each time it is used. 

How to use: spray the product directly onto the surface to be treated at a distance of about 20 cm, and leave it for about 30 seconds. With a clean microfiber cloth such as Heavy-Work, you can then simply remove the dirt evenly over the entire surface, not just where the stain is present. Finally, with a second clean microfiber cloth, remove the excess product.  

Cleaning and shining for glass and crystal

Shining the windows of the RV is taken care of. Split: a balanced formula that recreates a foam capable of quickly dissolving all kinds of dirt and grease, leaving a pleasant, clean aroma. Split is also available in 4.5L jerry can. 

The extra idea: Split removes smog and smoke residue found on glass and crystals, but it is also effective on plastic parts and all washable surfaces, and is perfect for cleaning displays!

How to use: spray on the surface to be cleaned, then wipe with a specific dry cloth such as 1Shine Glazing. Dilution with water varies depending on the dirt on the surface. We at Mafra recommend using it pure or at most diluted 1:3 in water.

Resins and Gnats: summer enemies.

Traveling in the summer, especially on the highway, means finding the front of your RV full of midges that, if not promptly removed, can do even serious damage to the surface of the bodywork, leaving marks that then require polishing to remove them.

Gnats and insect stains, if not promptly removed within 48 hours, can affect the clear coat of paint, creating unsightly stains and halos that are sometimes difficult, if not impossible, to remove with a cleaning product alone.

Not only midges--another typical summer problem is resin. In fact, in the summer we are always looking for a shady spot and we often find ourselves parking the RV under a tree. Resin also tends to dry out over time, then creating very serious problems with the bodywork.

Here, too, Mafra's experience comes to your aid. In collaboration with those who professionally wash vehicles, we have developed two products that can quickly remove any residue of midges and resins: Killer e Resin Off.

Try them, you won't be able to live without them!

• Killer: eliminate gnats in just a few moves

Before applying Killer, rinse the surface to be treated, then spray the product evenly and leave it on for about 1 minute. Then clean with a dry microfiber cloth. In case of residue particularly anchored to the surface, repeat the operation until you have solved the problem. Remember to always work on a cool surface and never in direct sunlight. Once you have finished the procedure, rinse the surface thoroughly.

• Resin Off: resin is no longer a problem

Use Resin Off is very simple: you just spray Resin Off on the stain or drop of resin and, when it is well soft, remove it without rubbing with a microfiber cloth, such as 1 Shine Exterior. You can then park the RV under the trees and enjoy their shade without any fear. Once you have finished the procedure, rinse the surface thoroughly.

How to clean the RV: second step, sanitization!

To end on a completely safe note, after the thorough cleaning phase of the RV, now more than ever it is also appropriate to completely sanitize the vehicle.

The first thing to do to sanitize RV surfaces is to equip yourself with a sanitizing product, as l'Car Surface Sanitizer of Mafra, which can permanently eliminate any microbiological contamination.

How to use Auto Surface Disinfectant:

• Spray the product on the surface at a distance of about 20 cm
• Allow it to act for a few seconds
• Clean the surface with a dry microfiber cloth
• For the most delicate parts, spray the product on the microfiber cloth and then treat the surface to be sanitized

Remember to use Car Surface Sanitizer on the parts that are touched the most: the gearshift knob, handbrake lever, seat belts, steering wheel, turn signals, power windows, all climate control knobs and car radio, not to mention door handles both inside and outside.

The next step, critical to our health, is sanitizing the cabin filter and air conditioning vents. Odorbact Out Green Forest is the PMC-authorized disinfectant spray - Presidio Medico Chirurgico that works through the RV air conditioning system, sanitizing the cockpit and thoroughly removing all bad odors, disinfecting from germs and bacteria the air conditioning system in less than 15 minutes.

Camper sanitized in 15 minutes:

• Shake the can before use;
• Open any compartments inside the driver's cab (drawers, object holders, etc.);
• Start the vehicle and turn on the air conditioning;
• Make sure all windows are tightly closed and vents open;
• Turn on the air recirculation and set the ventilation to maximum;
• Place the spray can vertically on the passenger side mat, taking care that the spray jet has no obstructions;
• Depress the canister valve fully until it is completely locked so that the product can be completely emptied;
• Leave the engine running and let the product work for 10 to 15 minutes, making sure the doors are closed;
• Ventilate well before driving.
