On the winding Greek roads leading to the Meteora Sanctuaries, Fabio Barone achieved a new record with his stunning Ferrari F8 Tribute. 173 seconds to cover 4 kilometers of hairpin bends with several sections without any protection and whose asphalt is completely smooth. A unique feat, which again saw us alongside the Roman driver. Read here the article recounting the approach to this extraordinary record.
Fabio Barone lowered by as much as 5 seconds the previous record, which belonged to a Greek driver. A feat that required a long preparation, both of the driver and the car. Having reached the threshold of 50 years of age, Fabio Barone wanted to take away one last treat, achieving his fifth Guinness World Record!
For this endeavor, the Roman driver prepared himself to the best of his ability, and even his car was prepared to cope with the challenging asphalt that is almost totally devoid of grip. The set-up of the car was completely revised to allow it to retain the necessary grip and make the most of the more than 720 horsepower of the Maranello bolide. More than a speed race, it was a test of regularity; to surpass the previous record, it was essential to maintain a constant pace along the entire 4 kilometers. The basis of Fabio Barone's new record was also the great fellowship with the whole team that now follows him in all his incredible feats.
We at Mafra are also by his side providing him with our support and all the products he needs to make his trusty Ferrari F8 Tributo, companion of many adventures, always shine. "Probably after Rome-North Cape, this was the most complex undertaking," these were Fabio Barone's first words after achieving the new record. "The tests we carried out on these curves last October had gone decidedly badly, to the point that instinctively we hesitated, there had been some doubts about the actual possibility of attempting and hitting the record. In fact, those very days were crucial. They served us to understand the direction to take."
With this new record, Fabio Barone has sealed a career full of accomplishments. There are now five Guinness World Records he holds. In addition to this record obtained on the roads of Northeastern Greece, here are the other records of the Roman driver:
