The protagonist is Vanni Oddera, world freestyle motocross champion, an athlete we have been supporting for some time now and doing so fills us with pride. Born in 1980 in Pontivrea (Savona), his story is worth reading, you can discover it here.
Vanni Oddera's Motorcycle Therapy: adrenaline pleasure and joy to share
Vanni Oddera is not only the protagonist of reckless evolutions breathtaking riding his motorcycle ... is also and above all one of the best performers in the world of this discipline. For several years now, Vanni Oddera has been taking the joy and excitement of experiencing a motorcycle ride. A freedom too beautiful but not always accessible to all.
If you jump alone it is just a jump
If you jump together it's life really begins....
The project of Motortherapy by Vanni Oddera was established in 2008 and is dedicated to children who have special needs. For Vanni Oddera, the project consists of sharing with them his passion, the motorcycle. Thanks to "Motorcycle Therapy," children can experience the thrill of riding a motorcycle for a day full of adrenaline and fun. With so many sessions throughout the year, Vanni Oddera gives a unique experience To special children riding his motorcycle.
The public can watch acrobatic motocross performances but, most importantly, disabled children, handicapped people, cancer patients and people in wheelchairs can experience the exhilaration of riding, with him, on a motorcycle. And more than once, Vanni Oddera recounted the joy of seeing their reactions, comparing them to those of one of the most exciting fantasy movies we know. "They remain ecstatic, gliding on air. I think the feeling is what Atreiu, the main character in The Neverending Story when he gets on the dragon, grabs it by the ears and flies."
The power of sharing
Vanni Oddera shares the Mototherapy project with the 24 pilots Italians of his freestyle motocross team, Daboot. A Team that has been promoting freestyle motocross now since 2002 with performances, competitions and events, throughout Italy, Europe and the world.
All the riders perfectly understood and embraced this special project that is Motorcycle Therapy. Vanni has involved them all, and just sharing this activity has also deeply transformed their relationships, making them become more than a team, a group of friends.
Doing good is good for you!
A project that also comes to the lane
And, if the kids can't go and enjoy the freestyle show, that's when Vanni Oddera and his Team bring the show to the hospital, on (electric) motorcycles, of course, with the Freestyle Hospital. Since 2014, our champion has been taking this activity all over Italy, which involves riding through the wards of hospitals, carrying hospitalized children on the saddle of the motorcycle. A project we particularly care about because it allows the little ones to have fun, bringing smiles back to their faces.
All the more reason to support it: in March 2020, a study from the Regina Margherita Hospital in Turin officially recognized the benefits of Mototherapy on cancer patients.
Motortherapy in times of COVID-19
Not even the pandemic has stopped the activities of Vanni Oddera and his team. Together with a group of friends, the champion created the protocol for Motorcycle Therapy Take-away, to bring his bike directly to people's homes.
Endless passion
Since childhood, Vanni Oddera's dream was to own a motorcycle, and with the first money he earned he bought one. And riding his motorcycle changed his life. Vanni Oddera became a freestyle motocross champion. His two-wheeled jewels, with which he brings a smile around the world, are a real sight. Enjoy them all here.
