New record for Fabio Barone. From Rome to the North Cape in 45 hours 20 minutes 37 seconds!
A new feat signed by Fabio Barone. Driving the Ferrari F8 Tributo and with the help of Alessandro Tedino, with whom he took turns driving. The Roman driver beat Google Maps by taking less than 49 hours to cover the approximately 4,300 km between Rome and the North Cape. Congratulations from Mafra!
Leaving Rome shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, Fabio Barone and Alessandro Tedino arrived at North Cape at 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 6, covering the 4,276 kilometers from Rome's Imperial Forum to North Cape in 45 hours and 20 minutes (excluding stops). A feat created to recall the one that 4 adventurous young men decided to undertake in July 1953 driving a Balilla, reaching their destination after 45 days of travel and numerous unforeseen events.
A journey that is anything but easy

Many might say, "but what does it take to beat Google with a Ferrari?" Instead, it is precisely the car used that created quite a few difficulties for our drivers. In fact, one of the rules to achieve the record was to respect the speed limits imposed on the various roads, and it was not always so easy. Particularly in Sweden, where you could not exceed 70 km/h, doing so with a car like the Ferrari F8 Tributo is anything but easy. Fortunately, this Ferrari is equipped with Cruise Control, thanks to which it was possible to maintain this limit without having to struggle too much with the foot on the accelerator. But keeping an engine like the Ferrari's always below 1,000 rpm is definitely not healthy for its efficiency.
The other great challenge was to drive for over 45 consecutive hours without ever stopping except for quick refueling and short bathroom stops. 45 hours lived all live streamed during which numerous fans supported our heroes and were able to experience this extraordinary feat mile after mile. Google in its 49 hours does not include any stops, which is why the stopwatches were stopped during refueling and then restarted immediately afterwards.
Nothing was left to chance
To prepare for such a demanding challenge, Fabio Barone thought about every detail, not just the car. He has trained on several fronts: intensive exercises in the gym, miles of driving through a simulator, a mental coach to keep his nerves steady, a posturologist to find the right position behind the wheel, and, above all, countless hours of driving, to learn how to cope with the stress and fatigue that the driver will have to endure during this incredible adventure.
Let's give some numbers
- 4,276 kilometers traveled
- 2 years of preparation
- 6 nations crossed (Italy, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway)
- 40 people including technicians, timekeepers and various professionals to follow the whole enterprise
- 11 pit stops
- 1,100 liters of gasoline consumed
- 45 hours 20 minutes 37 seconds driving
Great excitement in Modena
After the start from the Fori Imperiali in Rome, where fans greeted the departure of Fabio and Alex while a tenor sang Fratelli d'Italia, the first pit stop was scheduled in Modena. Here many fans of the Rossa di Maranello gathered to pay homage to Fabio Barone's utmost feat, a farewell to racing in grand style! Among the people present were also some Ferrari mechanics, including Pietro Corradini, Modesto Menabue, Felice di Vito. And it was Pietro Corradini, Schumacher's historic Chief Technician who personally took care of the first refueling of the Ferrari F8 Tribute. A great emotion for Fabio and Alex.
Ferrari for the Record

It is a Ferrari F8 Tributo the car with which Fabio Barone achieved the new record. The engine is the award-winning twin-turbocharged V8 - "Best Engine of the Year" for four consecutive years - capable of delivering a maximum output of 720 horsepower at 8,000 rpm for a specific output of 185 hp/liter and a maximum torque of 770 Nm at 3,250 rpm.
From the classic Rosso Corsa livery, the car, thanks to the work of processor Capristo, was prepared by inserting numerous carbon parts to lighten its weight. Three onboard cameras, two high-bandwidth satellite transmitters, two network inverters and other confidential technology were also installed on the Ferrari. We at Mafra took care of sanitizing the car's interior and making the bodywork shine with our products.
A professional detailer from ArtWrap 2.0 also applied a nanoceramic coating to Fabio's Ferrari to protect it over the approximately 4,300 miles of the journey.
