Rally Monte Carlo Historique 2020, Mafra Official Sponsor between passion and legend.
After the success of the 2019 edition, Milan will once again be one of the starting cities for the 2020 Rally Montecarlo Historique. In addition to taking care of the cars before the start, we will participate in the competition with a stunning 1974 Alfa Romeo 1750 GT, prepared in the best possible way to tackle the treacherous roads that have made this one of the most iconic races in the world.
Here are all the must-see events of the Rally Montecarlo Historique 2020, to enjoy up close the beautiful cars participating in the world's most famous historic rally and follow them as they move along the streets of downtown Milan.
Passion and glamour
The Monte Carlo Rally is not just another race but a true institution of world motorsport. It may be because in the 1970s and 1980s it was the scene of legendary challenges between the greatest rally drivers, driving cars that made motor racing history, or also because it is run on the roads leading to the Principality of Monaco, which has always been an icon of international glamour. Without forgetting that it has always coincided with the start of the motor racing season, with the inaugural round of the World Rally Championship which took place just in the past few days and of which we were sponsors.
Since 1999, the race has been joined by an exciting regularity race dedicated to classic cars: the Rally Monte Carlo Historique. Now in its 23rd year, the 2,500-kilometer-long race is reserved for cars that participated in Rally Monte Carlo between 1911 and 1976, driven by the world's best regularity drivers. This year, for the second consecutive year, the race features an unforgettable start from the Lombard capital, organized in cooperation with the Automobile Club Milano.
Rally Monte Carlo Historique in the heart of Milan
The cars of the historic Monaco race return to the streets of downtown Milan-a unique opportunity for all of us fans! 😊
On Wednesday, January 29, the first engines of the 2020 Rally Monte Carlo Historique Historique will be ignited, with the start of the first approach stages from Athens and Glasgow. The rendezvous for the Italian teams is on Thursday, January 30, in the Cloisters of the Palazzo del Senato, on Via Senato in Milan. It is just inside the courtyard of the Palazzo del Senato that the more than 60 cars will remain on display for all fans. On Friday, January 31, the cars will parade along the streets of the city center and then participate in the traditional presentation on the official platform set up in the cathedral square.
Right from the heart of Milan, the cars will set off in the direction of the Principality of Monaco. They will move on to Buis-les-Baronnies, a quaint village nestled in the lands of the Provençal Drôme, from where the 2020 edition of the Rally Monte Carlo Historique will start on Saturday, February 1, and will end on the night of February 4-5, with the arrival at Port Hercule in Monaco, scheduled for 1:30 a.m.!
This year also sees the renewal of the "Tribute A.C. Milano," reserved for all cars produced between 1955 and 1979. All participants will precede the cars of the Historic Rally, and then head to the Monza racetrack. Here, the car that most represents the style of the event will be awarded the "Monte Carlo Style Award." Also a moment not to be missed!

Mafra makes passion shine
As Official Sponsor of the event, Mafra will provide all teams with the #Labocosmetica team . Composed of some of the best Italian detailers, they will prepare the cars in the best possible way before the start. A special Mafra Welcome Kit, to take care of your car during the race, will also be provided free of charge for all crews starting from Milan.
Mafra will be the setting for the entire Milan event, thanks to the characteristic Mafra inflatable arches present at the start, which will be held on Corso Venezia, in front of the Automobile Club Milano headquarters, and in Piazza del Duomo, the two strategic points of the event.

Mafra is also starring in the race!
After making its debut at the 2019 edition of the Rally Montecarlo Historique, Mafra could not fail to return to field its own car: a splendid 1974 Alfa Romeo 1750 GT, perfectly prepared by Team Bernini Rally to tackle the challenging roads from Provence to Monte Carlo. At the wheel will be our General Manager Marco Mattioli, supported by his historic navigator Mario Pensotti.
The famous regularity race is not only legendary but also very demanding, so it requires special attention and preparation. Many of the special stages are run on snowy roads and it is often run at night. You have to be very prepared and focused because one small mistake is enough to incur heavy penalties. Our heroes show up very fierce, strong from the experience gained during 2019 by participating in several regularity competitions... Just to name a few: WinteRace, Summer Marathon and Targa Florio Classica, in one of the most beautiful editions of this wonderful race.
Useful advice for all enthusiasts
For those who want to use their classic car in the most extreme conditions, Mafra suggests using Anti-Fog, a product to be applied to the inside of the windshield to prevent fogging. In fact, vintage cars are not equipped with the modern systems that allow the car's windows to be quickly fogged up. Our crew will also use Anti-Fog in the race!
