Preparing the Car for Winter

Make sure your car is ready to face the winter smoothly. The first thing you need to do is to make sure your car is in perfect working order, so you don't risk stopping on the road because of some problem.

The battery, for example, needs to be well charged, as low temperatures put a strain on it; emergency jump-start cables are very useful. Lights and wipers should also be fully functional: it may be worth replacing the brushes, to make sure you can see well in all conditions.

If your car is diesel and you travel in very cold areas, do not forget to always refuel with winter diesel fuel, which does not freeze. Also, from November 15, on roads where it is indicated, it is mandatory to travel with winter equipment, that is, with winter tires or chains on board.

Not Ice Power, quickly melts ice from windshields and other windows, leaving a pleasant fragrance inside the passenger compartment. Not Ice Spray slows the formation of ice, quickly removes it from windows, and is also effective in unlocking frozen locks.

Always clean crystals

Once on the road, in a car in winter, it is essential for safety to maintain optimal visibility through a perfectly clean windshield. If, however, the windshield washer fluid cannot withstand the lower temperatures, the nozzles become clogged, defeating their usefulness in times of need.

Mafra offers you two solutions to avoid this risk. Products to pour into the car's windshield wiper tray and designed to withstand even -70°C.

Cristalbel is an antifreeze cleaner, available in two versions: Cristalbel -20°C and Cristalbel Artic -70°C, which when used pure are able to withstand -20°C and -70°C, respectively. The importance of radiator fluid in winter

Radiator fluid performs an essential function in maintaining correct operating temperatures of combustion engines. Mafra's antifreeze product lines provide maximum protection even in winter, going so far as to maintain freezing temperatures even when the thermometer drops well below 0°C.

Against dirt and salt

One of the typical problems of car use in winter is the spreading of salt on the roads to prevent layers of ice from forming on the asphalt. Salt, alone or mixed with snow that becomes slush as it melts, has a corrosive action on the sheets of cars, which, therefore, must be kept clean.

Particularly affected by this risk are the lower parts of the bodies, namely the sills and wheel arches. To achieve effective cleaning simply use HP12, Mafra's powerful universal High Performance degreaser that acts deeply on dirt without affecting surfaces. Recognizable by its electric green color, reminiscent of a chameleon, it is the ideal ally for removing salt, mud, and dirt before they do any damage.

For cleaning, it is also useful to keep a microfiber cloth in the car such as Heavy Work, consisting of millions of fine filaments that remove dirt.
