This year we are returning to the roads of the 1000 Miglia! The Mafra crew of Marco Mattioli and Corrado Lopresto is competing in a 1934 Lancia Augusta. Our presence will also be noted at the 1000 Miglia Experience, one of the rallies of the SOC - Super Owners Circle.
From June 16 to 19, the 39th edition of the historic re-enactment of the 1000 Mile. Marco Mattioli, our general manager, is at the start with Corrado Lopresto, one of the most important Italian collectors of classic cars. The pair is participating in the race with a car of great historical value, the Lancia Augusta that won the Targa Florio in 1936. Before the start, the car will be prepared by #Labocosmetica detailers, who will restore it to its original splendor.
The 1000 Mile: the most beautiful race in the world
La 1000 Mile today is, arguably, the world's most important event dedicated to the Regularity racing with classic cars. For several years, we have participated in the event as a sponsor, but also by fielding crews in the race. This year, an opportunity has arisen to return and we are very happy to be there! In fact, we are looking forward to it!
We will be together with the many crews from all over the world, and the challenge promises to be very demanding. As per tradition, the start is set from Brescia, and you enthusiasts will be able to see many cars that have made the history of four-wheelers parade by. One of them is our team's 1934 Lancia Augusta!
A Lancia Agusta with a winning history
The car with which theMafra crew participates in the 1000 Mile 2021 has an important history....
Built in 1934, it participated in the 1936 edition of the Targa Florio, taking the victory with Costantino Magistri at the wheel. The 1936 edition was a special edition of the "Cursa." Due to sanctions from the League of Nations on Italy in response to the attack against Ethiopia, the race was initially cancelled, but the RACI Palermo decided to organize a special edition in December. Only cars in the Turismo category and the 1500 class were admitted to the race. Only 11 competitors showed up at the start. Costantino Magistri won the "Cursa" by turning an average of 67 kilometers per hour, truly remarkable considering that this was a production car and that grand prix cars, in previous years, held an average of 80 kilometers per hour.
The car is now part of the Lopresto Collection and still has the original license plate of the time. A true piece of Italian motoring history!
A new path
For the first time, the direction of the race is reversed from recent editions, taking up the counterclockwise direction of many editions of the original speed race. The first stage will end in Viareggio and then, the next day, resume the march towards Rome. From the capital, the cars will head back north to reach Bologna. The fourth and final stage will start from the capital of Emilia on its way to the traditional finish in Brescia. This edition's is an unprecedented route, which will satisfy many fans: during the first stage, participants will be able to tackle the fascinating Cisa Pass and, on the third day of the race, the Futa and Raticosa Passes.
SOC's 1000 Mile Experience
The 1000 Miglia 2021 will also be an opportunity to admire some of the world's most exclusive supercars. After last year's first edition, the 1000 Miglia Experience, one of the rallies of the SOC - Super Owners Circle, the most exclusive car club in the world, whose members own dream cars, among the most expensive ones around. Just think that their average value is 1 million euros!
During this year's 1000 Miglia you will also be able to admire these fantastic cars, some of which are unique examples. Here, then, the 1000 Miglia combines the charm of vintage cars with the extreme technology of state-of-the-art vehicles.
The SOC cars will parade on the same roads as the race, in a parallel tour, passing through charming Italian cities. Our #Labocosmetica team detailers, before the start and at the finish of each stage, will take care of the cars, keeping them perfectly clean and shiny at all times.
