First success for Team Bernini Rally in Monte Carlo
A peremptory success! There is no other way to put it...the performance of the Italians Enrico Brazzoli and Manuel Fenolila of the Bernini Rally team at the FIA R-GT Cup - gave us a great moment of joy. Team Bernini Rally 'sAbarth 124 rally thus reaffirmed its role as queen among gran turismo cars in this specialty, having won in 2018 with French drivers Raphael Astier and Frédéric Vauclare what can be considered the world championship in this category. A victory for us as well, since, as you know by now, MAFRA is the team sponsor!
A tricky race
Once again this year the Monte Carlo Rallye lived up to its reputation as a difficult race, with drivers choosing studded winter tires to tackle most of the timed sections. Only in the last stage, the one with the two passes on the famous Col de Turini, was it possible to use dry asphalt tires. The myriad pitfalls of the 2019 Monte Carlo Rallye did not put the Bernini Rally team in trouble, as it dominated the category without ever being in question. On the first stage, Brazzoli kept a good pace, which allowed him to pull away from his rivals by a large margin. The race went on safely even in the many icy sections, the Abarth 124 rally responded great.
Brazzoli's words
"We are very excited," Brazzoli said at the finish, "it was a great result: we organized this program at the last with Bernini and Abarth, and I am proud to have completed this first race. Kilometer after kilometer we tried to get the right feeling with the car. The Abarth 124 rally is fun and goes very fast. The special stages of the Monte Carlo Rallye are always difficult , but we managed to make it all the way to Monaco without any problems." Brazzoli will continue his season by competing at the end of March in the Rallye Tour de Corse, the second round of the FIA R.GT Cup.
