How protect and polish your inflatable boat with Sealy
We have come to a new appointment with Carlo Luongo's tutorials. This time we talk about how to polish the dinghy.
In fact, it can happen that, with time and the use of inappropriate products, the dinghy can lose its original shine. Thanks to Sealy from Mafra, this will no longer be a problem!
In Carlo Luongo 's 9th video tutorial we address a very common problem, how to polish the dinghy to its best, restoring shine to the tubular surface. Have you ever had to clean your tubular and still see it dull? The cleaning step is important for restoration, but it is also very important to then apply a proper wax, to protect and polish the surface of the dinghy tubular from the weather. The right choice is to use a wax that can polish the dinghy and restore its shine, while preventing discoloration and excessive wear.
Sealy: polishes and protects the inflatable boat in one operation
Sealy
, available in the format of 500 ml, is the professional product of the nautical line of Mafra capable of polish the dinghy and protect the surface of the tubulars in a single operation. Its revolutionary formula based on Polarlite®, the multifunctional protection active ingredient researched directly in Mafra laboratories, makes it possible to revive, polish and protect the surface of the dinghy in one operation.
Thanks to itswater-repellent effect, dirt slides off and does not adhere to the fabric, making subsequent washing and refitting easier. Sealy protects the rubberized tubular fabric by preventing premature aging and yellowing of the dinghy. Its moisturizing and polishing action also keeps the fabric soft and supple, restoring the dinghy to the appearance it had when new.

A shiny inflatable boat, as good as new!
The Sealy protective wax allows the dinghy's tubular to be polished, helping to combat wear and tear from weather, UV rays and seagull droppings, which are very acidic and therefore harmful. With regular use of Sealy, the dinghy will remain as good as new longer and damage from dirt, sunlight and salt will be easily repelled.
As Carlo Luongo shows in the video, applying Sealy is very simple. If it is done well, one treatment a month will be enough to markedly extend the life of the dinghy while maintaining its value over time.

Polishing the dinghy: a few steps for an amazing result
Before applying the product, it is important to read the directions for use on the label. You will find all the information you need for a workmanlike job, including certificates of biodegradability that attest that it can be used even with the dinghy in the water.
Artful application:
- Spread the wax with a microfiber cloth such as Heavy Work, just as if it were a nourishing cream, via the supplied trigger. It is important to spread it properly so that the product can penetrate deeply into the tubular. In fact, remember that since it is a fabric, the surface is porous.
Carlo's secret: The secret of applying a wax lies in spreading it evenly. It is always best to avoid applying Sealy over the entire tubular and then going back and spreading it. The advice is always to work on small, well-dried portions of the tubular and not to overdo the amount. Better to make two separate applications rather than one more copious one! This way you will allow the product to nourish the fabric gradually, preventing the wax from drying only in one spot or leaving patches that will have to be removed again, resulting in wasted time and product.
The right waiting times:
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes, depending on temperatures.
A second pass, for more worn surfaces:
- If the surface is excessively worn, you can apply a second coat of Sealy to even out the surface and ensure all the shine your dinghy deserves.
Once the operation is over, by applying water to the tubular, you will be able to notice not only an increased brightness but also a water-repellent effect. This is a sign that the wax has sealed the surface porosity of the dinghy fabric, thus preventing dirt from penetrating it.

Carlo's valuable tips on how to polish the dinghy
-
Working on a clean surface
Sealy is a protective wax, not a cleaner. For best results, it is therefore important that the surface of the dinghy is well cleaned. If the tubular is not clean, in fact, you may find shinier areas and patchy dull areas, depending on where the wax penetrates and where it does not.
To best clean the surface of your dinghy before polishing it with Sealy, use a product like Shelly. Mafra's concentrated professional degreaser and cleaner designed for the complete cleaning of dinghies or tenders, based on surfactants of vegetable origin for the highest respect for the environment and the sea. Here you will find Carlo Luongo 's video tutorial dedicated to this very operation.

Always beware of the heat
We recommend that you do not treat your inflatable boat with Sealy during the hottest hours of the day. This is not so much to escape particular effects from the heat, but to prevent the product from drying too quickly, thus preventing it from spreading properly.
-
Stop the formation of mold
Sealy is also a great ally against mold. Its formula, in fact, prevents its formation. For it to be effective, however, it requires periodic treatment-once a month-on a mold-free tube.

Routine cleaning with Caravel
If you use products that are too aggressive for routine dinghy maintenance, you will remove the protective wax layer, thus negating its action. To avoid this inconvenience, use Caravel, Mafra's neutral pH shampoo, which can be used safely on the entire surface of the dinghy without removingSealy's protective action.
