Team Mafra returns to the Attilio Bettega Cup
From Friday, Feb. 18 through Sunday, Feb. 20, the 2022 edition of the Attilio Bettega Cup takes place. Marco Mattioli and his navigator Mario Pensotti renew their participation driving the 1974 Alfa Romeo 1750GT. A wonderful adventure along the magnificent scenery of the Dolomites.
After the exciting but unfortunate experience at the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique, our crew, consisting of Marco Mattioli and Mario Pensotti, is back in the game at the Attilio Bettega Cup 2022, the regularity race that starts in Bassano del Grappa and commemorates the great rally driver. This race has already featured the Mafra crew during the 2021 edition. This year our team returns to the roads that have often seen the legendary champion considered the heir of Sandro Munari.
TheMafra crew comes to the start very fierce, ready to make up for the misadventures they had at the Monaco race. Known as the "Italian Monte Carlo," this race is very challenging because of the snow and often icy roads. It is not an easy race the Attilio Bettega Cup, and the fun, for those who love to race on the snow, perform spectacular pendulums and traverses and challenge the lancets is assured.
Attilio Bettega Cup 2022, a revamped course
The start of the eighth edition of the Attilio Bettega Cup is set for Saturday, Feb. 19, the same day on which Attilio Bettega, one of the most talented drivers on the world rally scene, was born in Molveno, Trentino, in 1953. The start is given at 12 noon from the entrance of the refurbished historic Ponte degli Alpini, while the finish is scheduled for 0:40 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, also in Bassano del Grappa. At the start will be Alessandro Bettega, Attilio's son, also a rally driver, along with Maurizio De Tofoli, Attilio's first navigator.
Our crew will face twelve hours of driving, interspersed with a stop in Croce d'Aune to split the race into two stages. It certainly won't be a walk in the park! There will also be no shortage of Mafra inflatable arches to mark the start and finish of the various special stages.
The first survey is scheduled on Col Perer (a classic test of rallies in the 1960s and 1970s) while the second will be on Col Falcon. The first refreshment point is set at Croce d'Aune, where the Pedavena hill climb valid for the CIVM (Italian Mountain Speed Championship).. Then it's off again for the third test on the Forcella Franche that jumps over theAgordino. Further on the first, severe, step: the Duran (P.M. 4) followed closely by the Giau (fifth test) and the Falzarego, in transfer. After the time control with refreshment at Frassenè will follow the sixth detection on the Cereda pass, while the seventh will be along the hairpin bends of the Brocon pass to Val Malene. New start towards the Celado stage and, in succession, the legendary Valnevera trials and therally university Valstagna, the tenth final stage.
The route of the 2022 Attilio Bettega Cup traces the most famous rally stages of years past (S. Martino di Castrozza, Prealpi Venete and Coppa Dalla Favera). All in all, an extra large version that brings back the heroic days of rallying.

Awards at the Rally Meeting
On the morning of Sunday, February 20 , all crews will move to Vicenza for the Rally Meeting, the event organized by Miki Biasion, Brand Ambassador Mafra, and dedicated to all fans of this wonderful motorsport specialty. The two-time world champion will do the honors at 10:30 a.m. and award the winners of the eighth edition of the Attilio Bettega Cup. In addition to Miky Biasion will also be present. Luigi Lucky Battistolli, a true legend of Italian rallying.
