MAFRA stars with three crews and a booth at the legendary Milan Trophy
Now in its 11th edition, the Milan Trophy is one of the most anticipated classic car and motorcycle events in the Lombard capital. Last October 7, Castello Sforzesco opened its doors to welcome the fascinating vehicles, the soul of this special event.
The Milan Trophy is a must-attend event for any motoring enthusiast, whether it be motorcycles and classic cars or even airplanes. MAFRA is proud to have been an official sponsor of this special event. The company was present with its booth, where people were able to touch the products of the line #Labocosmetics and learn more about car detailing, a special process that brings the vehicle back to new condition, as well as with three crews driving dream cars: 1969 Alfa 2600 Touring, '72 Fiat 124 Abarth and '69 Ford Mustang (or Lancia Fulvia 1.3 Rallye).
The Milan Trophy consists of a fascinating tour around the capital of Lombardy, peppered with special driving skill tests. After vehicle scrutineering on Friday, Oct. 6, theappointment was set for Saturday morning, Oct. 7, at 10 a. m. at theSNAI Racecourse in San Siro. From there, registered motorcycles and cars headed to theCameri Military Airport runway, among biplanes and vintage aircraft that have made the history of the Italian Air Force, before returning to Milan's Castello Sforzesco in the afternoon.
At Cameri Military Airport, land and air met. One could visit the museum and have lunch inside the military hangar among vintage vehicles and historical artifacts. Beside the runway it was possible to get intoxicated with acceleration tests with one's own historic car, on that same runway where heroic pilots such as Gabriele d'Annunzio and Arturo Ferrarin left during World War I.
In conjunction with the Milan Trophy, the 53rd Wing celebration was also being held in Cameri, and more than 800 military pilots were present at the airport to cheer the passage of the historic cars with their timeless charm.
In the early afternoon, the return to Milan: towards Castello Sforzesco. After the triumphant arrival of the crews, the Milanese were able to relive times gone by. The entire Piazza d'Armi, the vital heart of the Castle, was transformed again this year into an open-air museum entirely dedicated to C.M.A.E. (Club Milanese Automobili d'Epoca), the organizer of the event, and to cars and motorcycles.
The spectacular event concluded with an atmospheric dinner inside the Castle, during which the 11th Milan Trophy was awarded, represented by a real terminal bow from a spire of the Milan Cathedral. The latter, after 300 years of history and now worn out by time, was dismantled by the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo and granted on a 20-year loan to C.M.A.E. to be awarded annually to the winner of the Milan Trophy.
The winner passed the regularity tests, carried out strictly with classic instrumentation (only hand clocks and no digital stopwatches allowed), and the skill tests, which challenged not only the drivers but also the navigators.
For the seventh consecutive year, the uniqueness of the Milan Trophy has been recognized by theASI with the "Golden Crank" award, certifying this event among the best events of the year.
Once again, MAFRA supports this exciting adventure, as is now a tradition with the most prestigious automotive events of the year.
