The Legend of Bassano 2022, three legendary days
The 27th edition of the Legend of Bassano kicks off on Thursday, June 23. Three days of racing dedicated to Giannino Marzotto, a well-known textile entrepreneur and legendary driver who won two 1000 Miglias.
Mafra, as a partner of the ASI Tricolor Circuit, is a sponsor of the Legend of Bassano 2022: framing each stage of the event are our unmistakable inflatable arches.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 23, in Bassano del Grappa, where all crews undergo technical scrutiny before the start, scheduled for Friday, June 24.
Mafra offers all participants a special welcome kit containing a selection of the best car care products. The ever-present inflatable arches mark the start and finish of all stages.
The Legend of Bassano is an event that is part of the Tricolor Circuit A.S.I.. (Automotoclub Storico Italiano), of which Mafra is a partner for all the events scheduled throughout the year. 15 events of international caliber that take place along the roads of our peninsula, with the aim of promoting knowledge and appreciation of the territories through historic motoring.
Also in attendance was Mafra detailer Manuel Barbagallo of No Stress Car Detailing who performs hands-on demonstrations on car care and maintenance and is available to all enthusiasts to answer their questions.
Legend of Bassano 2022: the program
- On Thursday, June 23, all crews gather in Bassano del Grappa where scrutineering is conducted and the special Mafra Welcome Kit, containing a selection of useful products for car care, is handed out . On Thursday evening, a welcome dinner is scheduled at the Hotel Belvedere and the route of the 2022 edition of the Legend of Bassano is presented.
- On Friday, June 24, sporting and technical scrutineering is completed, and after the race director's briefing, at around 12:30 p.m., the first competitor is scheduled to start. The first day of the race includes a 135-kilometer route from Bassano del Grappa to San Martino di Castrozza.
- Saturday, June 25 is the day of the second stage of the Legend of Bassano 2022. 230 km on a route that starts in San Martino di Castrozza and then returns after passing through Moena, the Nigra Pass, Castelrotto, Santa Cristina, where a stop for lunch is planned, Malga Ciapela, Caprile. The first car back to San Martino di Castrozza is scheduled to return at around 6 p.m.
- Sunday, June 26 is the third and final day of the race. In the morning at 9 a.m. the first car departs from San Martino di Castrozza. The cars reach Bassano del Grappa after 105 km, passing through Fiera di Primiero, Castel Tesino and Cornale. The arrival of the first car in Bassano del Grappa is scheduled around 12 noon in Piazza della Libertà. The award ceremonies are held at the Bassano Civic Museum, from which the cars then depart to reach Villa Ca' Cormano where lunch is held and the closing of the 27th edition of the Legend of Bassano.

The Legend of Bassano is a regularity event for historic cars with free instrumentation and is entered in the FIVA International Calendar, the National Car Events Calendar of the A.S.I.. and to the Tricolor Circuit of A.S.I. The event is organized by the Veneto Circolo Veneto Automoto d'Epoca "Giannino Marzotto".
Only Sport-Competition cars of the Vintage, Post Vintage and Classic categories (built from 1920 to 1960) are allowed. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to admit to the event a maximum of 10 GT, GTS and Prototype cars built in the same periods and any Post Classic and Modern cars, which, however, do not compete in the final classification. All cars must be provided with FIVA Identity Card and/or A.S.I. Certificate of Identity.
Also present at the event is Miki Biasion, Mafra Brand Ambassador, who is participating with a Dallara Stradale. At his side is the well-known television journalist Maria Leitner, voice and face of the RAI TG2 Motori program.
Who was Giannino Marzotto
Born April 13, 1928, Giannino Marzotto is a member of the well-known family of textile entrepreneurs. In addition to his involvement in the family business, Giannino was also an excellent driver and a friend of Enzo Ferrari. His racing career began in 1948. His main achievements were two victories at the 1000 Miglia, in 1950 and 1953, a 5th place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and a first and a second place at the Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti, in 1950 and 1952, respectively.
He died on July 14, 2012 today and is remembered as a true legend of Italian motoring.
