TheAlfa Romeo Giulietta Spider was created to meet a specific request from the American importer in New York. The development of the first prototypes was entrusted to two well-known Turin coachbuilders: Bertone and Pininfarina. Several solutions were presented and, in the end, the choice fell on Pininfarina's, which was inspired by the lines of the Lancia Aurelia B24. The first Giulietta Spider was produced in 1955, and over 1,000 examples were made the following year. Production went on until 1962, when the Arese-based company decided to put its older sister on the market: the Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider. Eventually, more than 17,000 examples were produced, available in 750D "normal" and 750F "Veloce" versions. The engine, a 1,290-cfm inline 4-cylinder, had a power output of 80 bhp that allowed the car to reach a top speed of 165 km/h (165 mph).
The Blue Capri of the Juliet returns as good as new
The car our professional car detailer Fabio D'Avenia worked on is a 1958 Capri Blue model, a popular color in those years. Thanks to this special treatment and #Labocosmetica products , the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider shone like new again. After decontaminating the rims using. #P-Ray, we moved on to pre-washing with #Neve, a neutral pH shampoo capable of removing dirt and contamination of all kinds. To clean the hood we used #Vario, the chrome parts were treated with the chemical decontaminant #Energo, while carbon residues from the exhausts were removed thanks to #Cronos. After the preparation phase was finished, the bodywork was thoroughly washed with #Purify, using the "double bucket" technique. There were numerous stickers on the car that were removed with Deca Flash, a spray made to remove traces of glue and tar from bodywork and windows. To remove even the smallest impurities, we subjected the car to mechanical decontamination using #Claylube, a synthetic lubricant designed to remove any contamination present on a car.
The intervention on the interior and the engine
After treating the exterior of the car, we moved on to the interior, first vacuuming up the dirt and then sanitizing the floor with steam after going through #Vario, a product suitable for cleaning any surface. The leather seats were treated with the Charme cleaning foam, while to remove rust and dirt on the door joints we used #P-Ray Having also finished cleaning the interior, we turned our attention to the engine. Here again the ideal solution is #Vario and steam, a combination that can restore any mechanical part to new.
Polishing and protection complete the job
Before proceeding with polishing, the car was inspected with the help of special lamps capable of revealing even the smallest imperfection. We drew up a sheet with the various defects and then prepared to proceed with polishing. After defining the thickness of the paint, we demarcated a part of the body to proceed with some tests, to find the best polish/tampon combination. At this point we moved on to polishing the car, including chrome.
After a final inspection, it was time for protection. First of all, we applied #Venere, a polish that can enhance the finish and significantly improve gloss, which also serves as a primer for the application of #Cupìdo, the nanocomposite sealant used to protect the bodywork from limescale and weathering. For even more efficient protection, the Giulietta Spider was also treated with #Perfecta. With #Aquavelox a thin coating was created on the windows to allow water to run off, thus improving visibility, while on the hood was applied Idrostop, a product that improved its water resistance.
It was a long and exciting job that required many hours of intervention by our professional detailer Fabio D'Avenia who, thanks also to #Labocosmetica products, restored the 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Capri Blue color to its original splendor, ready to be admired at classic car rallies.
Good Vision!
