When grit and passion overcome all limits: the record in the wheelchair somersault, which has now become a feat ... worldwide!
"My wings!" Ilaria Naef - the protagonist of the story we tell you - often calls her wheelchair that, as if to invite us to turn into a point of strength, everything in life, sometimes, can appear to us as a limitation. Because if there is one thing Ilaria was already a champion of, even before her record, it is precisely her willpower. But let's find out more about it together.
Champion Profile

Ilaria Naef - 25 years old from Varazze, a small village on the Ligurian coast - is a sports enthusiast, already the first Italian wheelchair motocross athlete, who has never let her disability condition her; on the contrary, the very latter has always been a spring to do more, and do it better. Ilaria, in fact, only succeeded in an extraordinary feat: that of performing a blackflip in a wheelchair on snow. This is the first blackflip in the world accomplished in a wheelchair. The setting for this wonderful story was the Prato Snow park, where the young athlete began her trials around 4 p.m. on Feb. 9, achieving-after a failed attempt-a new world record in the Prato Nevoso basin.
A record in the company of Mafra
The story of Ilaria and her record in the wheelchair blackflip has much to teach us, and not only to sports lovers. What it conveys to us, first of all, is that every limit we set for ourselves is not only conventional but also there ready to be overcome. All it takes is dedication and a good dose of willpower. Simple but sturdy values in which we at Mafra strongly believe, and so we can only say we are proud to have contributed, as a sponsor, to this very great feat!
