Coppa Milano-Sanremo, Mafra ambassador Mario Passanante, flanked by navigator Alessandro Molgora, dropped the poker by winning the classic race for the fourth consecutive time. On this occasion, too, the car used by Passanante was a 1937 Fiat 508 C.
Passanante, a native of Campobello di Mazara del Vallo (TP), is a regularity champion with historic cars with an impressive palmarès and is also a Mafra Ambassador. In his carnet are countless victories in prestigious races such as the Gran Premio Nuvolari, the Targa Florio Classica and the Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti. Already winner of the Italian Regularity Championship, in 2023 Mario also won the Italian Great Events Championship.
Mario Passanante's 2024 season started with a great performance at the Coppa Milano-Sanremo that saw him triumph with his 1937 Fiat 508 C flanked by Alessandro Molgora. This was the fourth consecutive victory achieved by our Brand Ambassador in this prestigious race of regularity that is part of the Italian Great Events Championship.
Milan-San Remo Cup: a busy schedule
The race is called the Milan-San Remo Cup and Back because it has Milan as its starting and finishing point .
- The program for competitors began on Thursday, March 14, with the first regularity trials at the Tazio Nuvolari circuit in Cervesina (PV).
- On Friday, March 15, the race restarted from Milan's San Siro Racecourse. The competitors then headed to the Langhe, finishing the leg in San Remo and moving to Monte Carlo for the evening.
- On Saturday, March 16, the route covered Liguria, starting in the village of Dolceacqua, stopping in Loano and ending the day in Rapallo.
- The competition concluded on Sunday, March 17, in Milan, with the awards ceremony at the Corso Venezia headquarters of the Automobile Club.
From 1906 to the present day
Cars built from 1906 to 1990 were eligible for the historic re-enactment of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo. They were joined by modern supercars participating in the Tribute and Youngtimers built from 1990 to the present, competing in separate classifications. More than one hundred crews took part in the event, which covered about 1,000 kilometers crossing 140 municipalities and tackling 115 special stages.
Prestigious historic cars such as Lancia Ardea and Aurelia, Porsche 356 and Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 took part in the race. Behind Passanante-Molgora were crews with another Fiat 508 C and a Lancia Aprilia, both from 1938. In the Legend (1946-1990) category, a 1972 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 came out on top, while a 2004 MG TF emerged among the Youngtimers. The audience was also able to admire the Tribute cars, supercars such as Ferrari 488 Pista and 296 GTS, Lamborghini Huracàn, Aston Martin DBS, Dallara Stradale.
