The Targa Florio Classica returns to the roads of Sicily.
From Thursday, October 10, specialists in driving "to the hundredth of a second" will compete to win one of the oldest races in the world, the Targa Florio Classica. We at Mafra will be present as Official Sponsor and with 4 cars at the start. But it doesn't end there! The detailers of the #Labocosmetica team will take care of the registered cars and will be at your disposal in the Targa Florio Village, in Piazza Verdi in Palermo.
Sicily is a land of great traditions and strong passions, and the Targa Florio Classica encapsulates both. Born back in 1906, the "Cursa," as the Sicilians call it, is one of the oldest races in the world and is still held today along the legendary roads on which legendary drivers such as Tazio Nuvolari, Achille Varzi and Luigi Villoresi have competed. The race held today is a regularity race reserved for vintage cars, but it is no less exciting and hard-fought.
Entered in the Italian Major Events Championship of ACI Sport., this year's event features crews from all over the world. There are almost 190 entries, 80 of which are participating in the 2019 Ferrari Tribute Targa Florio. Once again this year, we at Mafra will be present as Official Sponsor of the event and will offer all entrants a special Welcome Kit, with a selection of products designed to keep the cars shining like new.
Our cars at the start
As many as four Mafra cars will take the start in the 2019 edition of the Targa Florio Classica. Himara Bottini, a well-known journalist specializing in classic cars, and Mario Passanante, reigning Italian Champion of the Italian Historic Car Regularity Championship, will participate driving a stunning 1937 Fiat 508. A pair that is among the favorites for the final victory. Marco Mattioli, our General Manager, will be present again this year, at the wheel of a blazing 1974 Alfa Romeo 1750 GT. As always at his side will be Mario Pensotti, a more than proven companion thanks to the many regularity races in which they have participated.
The Targa Florio Classica will be an excellent test-bed for testing the car will participate in the Montecarlo Rally Historique, an event in which we will still be protagonists. Completing the stable are Frederick Faidhi and Ismail Tamraz driving a 1972 Fiat 124 Coupe. Johannes Waimer and Hans Hotfiel in a 1975 Porsche 2.7 MFI. All the crews are charged up and ready to get involved, crossing unique and enchanting landscapes that only Sicily can give.
