It's official! Starting today, November 13, the literary cab will return to roam the streets of Milan, in which writers, critics and journalists will read excerpts from one of their books to unsuspecting passengers on duty for the time of a ride. All in the context of raising awareness and encouraging reading promoted by the city of Milan.
The initiative will take place from Thursday, Nov. 13 to Sunday, Nov. 16 as part of the larger Bookcity 2014 event (organized by the City of Milan to promote reading and increase its cultural offerings in the run-up to Expo 2015) and will involve several Milan cabs, particularly those of Centrale Radio 02/4040, which will turn into literary cabs for the occasion.
New this year will be the sponsorship of the event by the Milan-based company Ma-Fra S.p.a., a leader in car cosmetics, which will make the experience more comfortable by offering passengers the cost of the ride and giving each person his or her own elegant "Hippy" scented car daisy.
The beating heart of the initiative is Sofia Corben, a blogger and taxi driver who tells on the web(www.psicotaxi.it) the stories with noir atmosphere of the passengers of her Psychotaxi. which will become "literary" for a few days.
If you happen in the next few days to find a stranger on your way from Central Station to home therefore don't worry. All you have to do is close your eyes, relax and let yourself be lulled by the words and images that the author by your side will be able to conjure up...the ride is brought to you by Ma-Fra!
