Autogirovagando 2024, the eighth auto event of the ASI Circuito Tricolore 2024, which Mafra supports as a sponsor, sees June 14-16 a group of historic cars built before the end of the 1930s travel the roads within the Riviera Romagnola.
Cesenatico and the hinterland of the Romagna Riviera are the setting for Autogirovagando... in the past, an event reserved for vintage cars built before the end of the 1930s. The event is part of theASI Circuito Tricolore, which sees Mafra sponsor of all events on the calendar. Organizing it is the Collectors Historic Car Club of Cesena.
Self-wandering to discover the other Romagna
The name Romagna always conjures up images of long beaches with expanses of umbrellas, but the region is rich in other reasons for interest. Autogirovagando aims, like all the events of theASI Circuito Tricolore, to allow participants to go on a discovery tour of these beautiful areas. The event is dedicated to the memory of Alberto Ghini, founder and president of the Collectors Historic Car Club.
The Autogirovagando 2024 Program
The program calls for 30 cars, all dating back to the late 1930s at the latest, to gather between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Friday, June 14 at the Grand Hotel da Vinci of Cesenatico. From here, the caravan departs in the direction of Cervia, to visit the historic saltworks in the area. Immediately following is a visit to Siropack, a company specializing in food and pharmaceutical packaging. Siropack's headquarters is also home to a university campus of theAlma Mater Studiorum of Bologna. Therefore, after lunch, experts from the university will give a lecture there on the topic of sustainability of electric cars and biofuels.
In the afternoon, the crews, driving their historic cars, make their way to Cesenatico, to stop by Leonardo's canal port and visit the Maritime Museum. At 6 p.m. the cars return to the Grand Hotel Da Vinci, where a gala dinner is held in the evening.
On Saturday morning, June 15, crews set off again to explore the hinterland and rolling hills of Cesena. Stops and visits are planned at the church of San Carlo and the Basilica of San Vicinio di Sarsina, which enshrines a precious collar. It is said, in fact, that St. Vicinius hung it around the necks of the sick who benefited from his healings. Also the National Archaeological Museum of Sarsina welcomes participants, who can admire numerous finds from the Roman era, including the imposing mausoleum of Rufus.
Lunch is then held at La Mentana restaurant, from which there is a beautiful view of the Savio River . First destination of the afternoon is Villa Silvia-Carducci in Cesena, which has hosted literary figures and artists in the past, including the poet Giosuè Carducci. The villa also offers the opportunity to visit Musicalia, an interesting collection of mechanical instruments for the reproduction of music.
At 5:30 p.m. we are scheduled to return to the hotel in Cesenatico, where a seafood dinner is held later. Dress appropriate to the era of one's car is suggested for this event. But the day is not over because, at 9:30 p.m., a parade of elegance of the cars is scheduled in Ciceruacchio Square, on the leonardesco canal port of Cesenatico. The jury at that point is called upon to declare the winners of the many prizes up for grabs.
On Sunday, June 16, at 10:30 a.m., participants are welcomed for an excursion to the Adriatic Sea by the motorboat Super Tayfun, on which lunch is also served. Finally, from 2:45 p.m., the Grand Hotel da Vinci is the backdrop for the presentation of prizes awarded by the jury.
